It's been too long...

So much for doing this every day. Guess I got a little off track; but I'm back now :)

I feel productive in a crafty kind of way today. I was able to sew our St. Patrick's Day table cloth last night, finsih up our leprachaun trap, and decorate for this morning. Then I finally finished my first sock this evening! I'm really impressed and I hope the next one will go much faster.

I've got to get the house cleaned back up. It's a mess! And I'm behind on laundry big time. Ugh!

Well, it's late, but I wanted to update real quick. I'll be back...soon!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today was a productive day! Turkey and I went to swimming lessons. He did pretty good. This was the last class for this session. The next session starts next Monday and mom is going to have to take him (I have a doctor's appointment). I hope he doesn't throw a fit and refuse to get in the pool. I know she won't make him go if he does.

After we got home we had lunch and then I made a Valentine's Day table cloth. Super easy craft and it makes the kitchen look so festive! Then I baked a heart shaped white cake with chocolate icing, Turkey and I played with the Cricut and cut out all kinds of fun Valentine-y things, and we still had dinner on the table by the time Ben got home! Ben got me beautiful pearl earrings. I love them! I didn't get him anything and I feel bad, but he is getting a new toy in the next few days (a netduino, don't ask) so we can just say that's his gift ;)

Music class and then Bachelor with Kristi. I made 5 more heart pins while I was watching our show. Turkey is going to give each of his teachers one tomorrow. We've given away  lot of them: Miss Amy and Miss Emily at church, Miss Bertie at the Y, Miss Adrielle at music, two to Mamaw, and one to Krisit's little girl. They were really fun to make and also super easy.

Last week was really rough. I mean really rough. This week has to be better. I love my kids and I'm very happy that I get to stay home. I know that there will always be hard days, but I sure hope that they are few and far between. I still need to try to get some routines down (cleaning, laundry, grocery, etc). It's getting better, and easier...this stay at home thing. I said something about going back to work once Turkey starts school, but the more I got to thinkiong about it, the less I wanted to do it. I think I'm finally starting to fit in to my new position as Buxton Home CEO :)

Makin' Garlic and Emergency Hair Cuts

It's been an interesting day to say the least.

King had a two hour delay due to icy roads. I also got the wonderful privilege of picking him up from detention after school.

Turkey had school today, no delays there. We went to McDonald's after I picked him up. I attempted to take some pants back to Kohl's that I bought him that are too big, but he had MELT DOWN insisting that they fit him just fine. I guess I will exchange them when he is not with me.

Once we got home Turkey and I sit down to make a Valentine's Day garland. I've got step by step pictures that I will hopefully post tomorrow. It's made with toilet paper rolls painted red and shaped into hearts, beads, and embroidery floss. It turned out very cute. However, every time Turkey tries to tell someone what we made he tells them we made garlic. Gotta love it!

King was at a friend’s house most of the evening and when he came home for dinner we got a surprise. There was a huge chunk of hair missing from the back of his head and a smaller one out of the front. He and his friend thought it would be a good idea to see what would happen if they tried to use a razor to cut their hair. King did the one in the front; his friend took the chunk out of the back. It looked really bad. So, we made a quick trip to SportClips to get it fixed. His head is pretty much shaved. Thank God his hair grows fast. I just hope he doesn't get too cold!

I love my boys! I wouldn't trade them for anything. Having them around keeps me on my toes and keeps things interesting!

Slow start to the week

I've not been feeling well for the past two days. I think it's just a cold, but my ears and throat are killing me too. I've got lots of things that I need to do and want to do this week, so I'm really hoping that I'll feel better tomorrow so I can get some stuff done.

I'm hoping to make some Valentine's Day pins. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to get stuff done for the holiday :) I've also got material to make a table cloth. I'd really like to make cookies and decorate them and have a special dinner for the boys, but we'll see how that goes.

Turkey and I didn't go to swimming today. This was probably not a good call on my part. I really need to keep him going so that he will get used to it. Oh well, there's always next week!

Well, enough of my rambling. I'm going to bed and hope to feel myself tomorrow.

Bejeweled is taking over my life!

I have got to stop playing on-line games. Every time I get the chance I sit down to play a quick game of Bejeweled or Zuma. They never turn out to be a quick game. I've got to break this addiction and fast or I may never blog again, or clean my house, or play with my kids.

We had some icy weather on Monday evening and Tuesday, so King was off school Tuesday and Wednesday and Turkey was off on Tuesday.  We didn't have church on Wednesday evening, so really we've been doing a whole lot of nothing.

Tuesday I went in to the church office to help Nikki out with a few things. I think I need to make sure that I do that every so often. While it was nice to see everyone I'm so glad that I'm not there any more. I do miss work sometimes, but after just a few hours helping her out I was done. I don't know how I ever worked and got anything done at home.

King and I watched Dragon Ball Z Kai tonight. It was nice to sit with him and kind of bond over some good ol' anime. We had a few good laughs at some of the lines that were said ("You're just pure evil and I'm getting sick of it"). I would love to watch the series from the very begining, Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball Z at least. It would take for ever though!

Last night, while Turkey was taking a bath he started singing "in the city....city of Compton..." Gotta love when your four year old sings Tupac. I love how he sings when he thinks no one can hear him. He's such a funny little guy.

Well, off to watch CSI and the go read.

So, yeah

It's been a while. Get off my back :)

This past weekend was boring. Got caught up on some Grey’s Anatomy, got two of the walls in the living room painted, and that’s really about it. Sometimes quite is good.
Swimming went ok today. Turkey refused to jump in, but the teacher didn’t really push it. She had them swimming all over the pool which he loved. However, he didn’t love when she had them swimming through a hula-hoop. The hoop was close to the water surface, so they pretty much had to put their head in, he let everyone know that he DID NOT LIKE THAT! He sat on the steps and pouted for a while, but then when it was time for class to be over he asked me to get my suite on and come in with him. So we hung out in the pool for about thirty minutes before heading home.
It’s supposed to ice really bad tonight and tomorrow. Wonderful. I’m supposed to go into church to help Nikki with some stuff for parent/child dedication and mom is going to watch Turkey. I hope the roads stay ok. Ben’s car broke again so he’ll be working from home tomorrow. I hope it gets fixed and stays fixed this time.
Well, I’m going to go up to bed and read for a while.

Wine Guy and Zuma

So I started playing this Zuma Blitz game on Facebook and now I'm addicted. I haven't fiured out all the ins and outs of the game, but I do know it's fun and a huge time waster :)

I went to dinner tonight with Sheri so we could discuss Son of a Witch. We met at The Wine Guy on 256 and had a blast! We shared pizza that was all different flavors (ham and tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives and chicken, and something else, but I don't remember what it was) and it was delicious! We also got chocolate mousse made with ice wine for desert. It was so nice to see her to catch up and talk about our book. Not much better than a great friend and great wine!

Zumba tomorrow, can't wait!

I LOVE Steven Tyler!

For the first time in several seasons, I'm loving American Idol! It's mostly because of Steven Tyler. I could watch him all day!

King continues to concern me. He now into this whole rasta thing. I don't know if it's a joke, just something to be different. Whatever it is I hope it goes away fast. He's got to get on track. And I don't know what to say or do to help him get there.

At Cubbies tonight they reenacted the Good Samaritan story. Turkey got to be the hurt man and had to "ride" the donkey, another Cubbie, to the inn. The teachers told me it was the funniest thing they have seen in a long time and wished that they would have had a video camera. I'm sorry I missed it :)

Well, my thoughts are very scattered tonight. I need to go up and read. I'm meeting Sheri tomorrow evening for dinner and to discuss. It's going to be fun, but I've gotta get caught up to her!

Only Because I'm Trying to do this Every Day

I am so sleepy, but my goal is to blog as much as possible this year, so....

I didn't sleep well again last night. I fall asleep just fine, but then I wake up and start thinking of all the things I need to do or remember and I can't get back to sleep. Ugh! And to top that off I'm not feeling all that well. My throat is hurting, again, and I'm starting to feel it in my ears too. <eyeroll>

Ben worked from home today because his car is broken. It's getting fixed so hopefully he'll have it back tomorrow. I know it stresses him out, and it's just a big pain to not have both cars. Turkey and I stayed out most of the day so that he could work in peace. We went to Chick-fil-a, Jo Ann's, and Barnes and Noble. Then we picked King up from detention and went over to Mamaw's to pick up some of King's old toys. Dragon Ball Z toys to be exact. It's neat to see him intrested in some of his old stuff again.

I'm really getting stressed out because King will not do his school work, he keeps talking about things that are alarming (drugs), and just has no drive to do anything. Turkey will not use the potty. If one or the other of these things don't change soon, I'm going to have to be locked in a rubber room.

Well, I'm going to bed. Busy day tomorrow (story time, King dentist, dinner, then Awana).

Monday, January 24, 2011

It's Monday!

Swimming lessons went VERY well today. Turkey was really excited about his new swimming trunks and "stretchy" shirt. He still isn’t crazy about jumping into the pool, but he did it anyway. I’m so proud of him being so brave and courageous to do something that he doesn’t like to do. I walked on the treadmill for two miles and had to stop because my feet were killing me. I now have a huge blister on the bottom of both feet. I don’t know why this happened; my shoes aren’t new same socks I always wear. Ugh!

I went to the Parent Education night at Turkey’s preschool tonight instead of going to music. It was about parenting and some of what was covered was from a book that I have (Have A New Kid By Friday). There was some good information, lots of things to think about. Nothing new really, but it’s good to have the refresher. I was also able to talk to one of the preschool teachers who has an adult son who is ADHD. It’s always good to talk to others who have been through what we are going through and know there is hope. Her son is a Marine now. I just pray that King can make some good choices, and that God protects him.

Well, school for Turkey tomorrow. Ben’s car is broken, so I’m not sure what that’s going to mean for us…he may have to borrow my car to get to work. But he’s not getting it until we are home from school!

Weekend Recap

It's been a weekend to say the least.

Friday was a girl's night in to celebrate Monica's birthday. We had a delicious dinner make by Kristi and way yummy cake from Giant Eagle. I could have eaten the entire thing, yes I would have been very sick, but it would have been worth it :)

Saturday was a lazy day. The only thing we did was go to Five Guys for dinner...which was great until King decided he was going to be a butthead and attempt to walk home. He didn't ger very far because it was VERY cold out. His attitude has got to improve. After Turkey was in bed, Ben and I watched Public Enemies which was a great movie, at least in my opinion!

Today was church. I had a very small class, only 5 kids, and Ben ended up having to help me out because my co-teacher wasn't able to make it. Then after we got home, Ben asked King if he had fun while he was out last night. I had no idea what he was talking about, but figured it out quickly. He snuck out of the house after we went to bed. I could wring his neck! I don't know what to do with him. I had to get out of the house before I said or did something I would regret, so I went to the grocery. It gave me time to cool off. Then Ben, Turkey, and I went to Target for a few things. After we got home for the evening I realized that I was starting to get another migraine. Two in one week, wonderful! After a quick nap, I felt much better.

We've got another busy week ahead of us. Swimming lessons tomorrow...hope things go well. I've also got some thinking to do about King. Pray for me!

Turkey Smash

Snow, snow, and more snow. It started around 10:00 am, and as of 10:00 pm it's still going strong. The last time I checked there was four inches on our front porch. As of now, King has a two-hour delay.

Turkey had a complete meltdown this evening. It's kind of a long story, but here goes: Molly had managed to chew the "squeaker" out of her new toy. I asked Turkey to throw it away, and for all I knew he did. Then a few minutes later I hear a noise that sounded like a duck call. King told Turkey to go into the kitchen (I was fixing dinner), and show me what he had. Well, he had got the squeaker out of the trash and had it in his mouth. I told him once again to put it in the trash. He did. Once Ben got home he took the trash out. I was telling Ben about the “duck call” and Turkey walks over to the trash to get it. When he realized that the trash had been taken out he started to cry and say that he wanted it back. Well, it just escalated from there, and it was actually kind of funny. But what was really funny was when Turkey decided that he was going to get it himself. He opens the door to the garage, opens the garage door and starts to walk to the trash. King stopped him, but just barely because he was laughing so hard! His meltdown went on for about 30 minutes. I know we don’t really help the situation when we laugh at him, but sometimes it’s kind of funny. This doesn’t happen very often, thank God.

Turkey and I did find something cool on line today. Storylineonline.net. It’s videos of celebrities reading children’s books. I had received an email from Barnes and Noble with a link to their web site where authors read their books. We wanted to check it out because the current book is Strega Nona, a book that Turkey had just heard at preschool on Tuesday. He loved listening/watching it and insisted that we find more. Soooo, after we watched all the videos on BN.com, we googled story time online and storylineonline.net popped up. We had a good time hearing stories that we’ve never read before.

Well, it’s getting late and I want to read for a few before I fall asleep. Goodnight!

Well, This Day Could Have Been Better

Things started good, dropped the car off for service, came home and had lunch, then went to story time. At story time I started seeing spots...the beginning of a migraine. Wonderful. Got home took some Advil and put in a movie for Turkey so that I could rest and make this thing go away. The headache lingered until about 5:00 or 6:00, but I still wasn't feeling good. I stayed home from Awana and rested and not I feel OK, but not great.

I'm just really bummed because I'm sick of nodding off during the day. I don't know why I'm so tired all the time. I guess I'm not going to be able to sit down in the afternoon. I've got to try to stay busy. I just don't know how this is good for Turkey, or King for that matter. The one thing that I wanted more than anything (to stay at home) and I'm failing at it miserably.

Red Robin...Yum!

It was a dreary day today, just rainy and cold. King said he wasn’t feeling good this morning, so he stayed home from school. After I got home from picking Turkey up from school, King told me that our internet, cable, and phone were down. He had called Ben and tried to get it up and working, but that’s hard to do over the phone. So we spent the day watching DVDs and the boys played with Teck Decks. It was nice to see King into something. He was busy customizing a board, putting different trucks on it, sanding it down, and giving it a new design.
We had dinner at Red Robin with Matt P, our good friend from college. We try to get together when he’s here on business. Dinner was yummy as usual. King and Turkey had fun playing a few of the video games they have there. Turkey was so tickled! You could hear him laughing all the way back at our table. The Red Robin mascot was also there and Turkey couldn’t get enough of him! He have him several high—fives and one huge hug! I wish I would have had my camera. As I was getting him ready for bed and trying to get him to get his PJs on, I noticed that he kept making the motions like he was taking something off. I asked him what he was doing and he told me that he was taking off his parrot costume! I love his imagination! He’s always pretending to be someone else or have something special on and he stays in character well. Sometimes he has on magic gym shorts and pants, sometimes he’s SpongeBob and busily making Crabby Patties in his kitchen; other times he’s Fred from Scooby Doo or Michael Jackson. He’s such a fun little guy!
Well, I’m off to read and go to bed. I’m dropping my car off tomorrow for service and hopefully going to story time. We’ll see what tomorrow brings J

Just a Day

Kind of a slow day. Swimming lessons were not in session today because of MLK day, so we didn't make it to the Y. Which means that I didn't work out. Not going to lose any weight if I don't move my butt! And to top that off, I made no-bakes and they were GOOD, so I had about a million of them. Try to get back on track tomorrow and stay that way for the rest of the week.

We did make it to music class, where Turkey proceded to tell Miss Adrielle all about Michael Jackson and how his doctor killed him with sleeping pills. The kid cracks me up!

I went over to Kristi's to watch The Bachelor. I love having time to just hang out somewhere other than home and just talk or whatever. I started knitting the other fingerless glove, so maybe by the end of the year I'll finally have a pair :)

Going to watch Hawaii 5-0 and go to bed. Later!

Weekend Recap

So, I haven't posted for a few days so here's a recap of what's been going on.

Friday - Went to Zumba, and I still love it! I really do wish I could go three days a week. After Turkey went to bed, and The King left for his dad's Ben and I watched Leap Year. It was a cute movie, total chick-flick, and predictable, but I still liked it. However, I'm glad to know that the next movie on our queue is Public Enemies with Johnny Deep. It's time to shake it up and watch something that's not romantic :)

Saturday - I took Turkey over to Mamaw's so she could cut his hair. Ben was going to paint the basement, but the paint was frozen so that was a no go. Went to Steak and Shake for dinner and then after Turkey went to bed watched several episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I love that show!

Today - Church, lunch at Bob Evans which Ben and I had to inhale, because Turkey was complaining of a tummy ache, nap, then off to Bible Study/Kidz Choir. Ben was able to paint the basement hallway and it looks really nice.

I’ve resolved to sweep the kitchen every night after we are done in there and to do a load of laundry a day. I hope I can keep it up. This will help make the house seem a little neater. Well, I’m going to go read for a while before I go to sleep. I hope tomorrow is a good day!

Colds and bras

Turkey isn't feeling well and feel asleep in the car on the way to the Y tonight. Instead of waking him up so that I could work out before hockey I just let him sleep. He did good in hockey, but I could tell he was dragging. I just hope he'll feel good enough to go to child care tomorrow so that I can go to my Zumba class.

Speaking of Zumba, I tried to get a new sports bra today and a new outfit so that I don't have to wash my cloths so often. I managed to find a bra, pants, and a shirt, but it was a pain in the butt and I'd rather never have to purchase this stuff again. Being fat sucks! I guess big girls aren't supposed to have cute cloths to work out in, and they really aren't supposed to have any boob support :) We are already unflattering looking, lets not have our fat jiggle all over to add to that.

Well, I'm off to bed. I need to get a good nights sleep; maybe then I'll be in a better mood.

PS - Today at school Turkey learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It's really sweet to hear him tell you about "King Dr. Luffer" and how "someone that had hate in their heart" killed him. I'm amazed at how well he remembers stuff and then tells me all about it. I love his little voice...even after it's talked non-stop all day!

Say "I love you"...

You are not promised tomorrow. I want my children, husband, parents, brothers, sister-in-law, and friends know that I love them. We all need to say I love you, I appreciate you, You are special to me more. We need to live like we love the people God blessed us with. Time here is short and we never know when it's going to be our time to go home to be with Jesus.

Tonight at church we learned that one of my former co-workers is going to lose his 26 year old daughter. She was in a car accident this morning, with her two young children and grandmother. They are fine, not a scratch. But she's not. From what people are saying, they are just keeping her alive until her husband can get home. He is in the military and stationed in Korea. I cannot imagine the shock, pain, questions, that the family has. I cannot imagine her two children, two years old and four months old, growing up not remembering their mommy.

Just yesterday a friend sent this verse to me:
Psalm 37:23-24
A man's steps are established by the Lord and He delights in his way.  Though he stumbles, he will not be overwhelmed because the Lord holds his hand.
I glossed over it when I first read it, but tonight, when my friend needed to say her verse to me because she was overwhelmed with the sad news, I stoped and really listened to God's word. What power! To know that God holds our hand, He's with us through everything. There is a Light in all the darkness and questions, we just have to take hold of His hand.

Yep, it's Monday again

Another busy Monday is done. Swimming lessons didn't go as well today as they did last week. Turkey did eventually get into the pool, and he did practice floating, but he was NOT happy about it at all. I'm proud of him for finally getting in the pool. We'll try again next week.

I worked on my sock tonight while hanging out with Kristi and Gayle. One of my goals this year is to do projects, really get them done, and stop just collecting things to do. Wish me luck. :)

King Turkey is suspended for three days from school. This is the third suspension this year. I love that boy, but man, he really tries to make things difficult. My prayer for him is that he will be motivated to do his best in school, learn how to deal with things and people that are difficult, and that he will know right from wrong and not do anything stupid.

Cards n' such

So, no post yesterday...I'm a bad blogger! Mom called me at 5:00 asking if I could be a sub for her card club, which started at 6:30. Short notice, but we didn't have anything going on so I said sure! I haven't played eucher since before Turkey was born, so I had to re-learn the game. I came in last place...go figure. It was a fun time, but a late night. I didn't get home until 1:15AM, yikes! Hopefully if they ever need a sub again they'll think of me :)

I started a new Bible study tonight. It's called Victory Over Darkness and it's 11 weeks. I don't know why I keep collecting things to do. I do feel it's important to keep in a study and I don't do well just doing them on my own. I just need to learn to let somethings go, stop napping during the day, and not just sit on the couch at night and watch TV.

Swim lessons again tomorrow. I hope Turkey will go. I also hope to walk on the treadmill for a while, but right now I'm not feeling too well. I really don't want to miss though; I want to get in the routine.

Well, lots to do and think about so I'm off. Wish me luck on getting some type of priority list together!

I Love Zumba!

So, my first Zumba class was this morning and I had a blast! I know I had to look like a fool trying to keep up and shakin' all this, but I had a good time and I can't wait to go back next week. I hope I'm not too sore tomorrow, but I really shouldn't be.

Mom made dinner for us tonight (Cabbage Rolls, mashed potatoes, chicken fingers, and mac n' cheese for those of us who don't dig cabbage). It was nice to hang out with them. The boys usually get crazy over there, and tonight was no exception, but it's still fun.

Well, I'm going to go watch Letters To Juliet with Ben. :)

Just another day

So, I couldn't post last night which bummed me out. That's why there is a blank post. :(

I'm not making much progress on Son of a Witch. I like it, it's good, but as soon as I lay down I'm out. I hope to do some catch up this weekend.

Turkey had his first hockey class tonight. I think he liked it, but it's hard to say. He will go along with the program for a while, then he's off doing his own thing. I was able to walk for about a mile before his class, so that makes me happy. Tomorrow morning is my first Zumba class. Hope I don't make too big of a fool of myself :)

Well, I'm going to watch hottie Nick Stokes on CSI. G'night.

Almost forgot!

Blah...

Not much going to here today. It was Turkey's first day back to school, which made for a tired and whiney boy. We went to lunch with MaMaw at Chick-fli-a and that was fun. Other than that, we did nothing. Ben is watching OSU in the Sugar Bowl and I couldn't really care less. I think I'm going to go up and read some more of Son of a Witch. It's good, but it's not one to read in bed when you are already tired and ready to fall asleep. :)

On an up note, New Kids On The Block are coming back to Columbus in July and I hope beyond all hope that I can go! I think Kristi may go with me too. How fun would that be?

Busy Monday

Turkey and I went to the Y around 10ish. I walked on the treadmill for a little over a mile while he was in child watch. Then Turkey had his first swimming lesson. He did better than I thought he would. He wasn't too crazy about it, but he didn't cry, he didn't get out of the pool and he said he would go back next week. He got to use an orange pool noodle, so I know that made him happy. They practiced jumping into the pool. When I asked Turkey how that was he said "Not good." :) I think that with time, and maybe some more time in the pool with us he will really start to like it.

Then this evening we went to Kindermusik. We were going to skip this session, but our teacher emailed me and was very sad to see us go. I don't really know why I had decided to stop for a while, I guess it's just kind of far from home, dark when we go, and it's so cold out that I just wanted to stay home. But I'm glad we went. It's a very small class this time and I know Turkey likes to go and see if friends.

Then I went over to Kristi's house to watch The Bachelor. I started going over there on Monday's last year to watch this with her, Gayle, and sometimes Wendy. It's nice to have an evening to hang out with the girls.

Back to school for Turkey tomorrow. King Turkey went back today and from what I could tell it went good. I love how he picks out his cloths for the next day. He's so particular and always asking me what looks good and what doesn't. To be honest though, he's better at putting together an outfit than I am. :)

Off to watch Hawaii 5-0 with Ben.

Paint and Such

So Ben decided that it was finally time to paint the boy's bathroom and hang a cabinet that we've had for in there for about four years. I decided to go to a darker blue and I must say it looks really nice. Now I just hope they will keep it cleaned up. We are also going to be painting our living room and basement. Living room is going darker (just a tad darker brown), basement it going lighter (from red to gray).

I signed Turkey up for swimming lessons and a hockey class at the Y. Swimming starts tomorrow and I just pray that he'll get in the water. I think he will really enjoy it if he just gives it a try. Hockey, who knows what's going to happen. I hope that he'll participate like he should and listen to the coach. I signed up for a Zumba class that starts on Friday. I've never taken a fitness class before, so this should be fun. I just hope I'm not the most out of shape or the biggest person in the class. I really hope this will help me start to move more and inspire me to lay off the junk food and be healthy this year.

Well, I'm going to head up to bed to read for a while. I'm starting Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. One of my very good friends and I are going to read it together. Hope it's a good one!

Until tomorrow...

Happy New Year!

I can't believe that another year has come and gone. I need to sit down and get some goals together for the upcoming year. I have many in my head, but I need to get them down in some type of writing or I'll never do them. One of the big ones is that I want to blog, or at least tweet something, everyday this year. I know it's ambitious, but since I'm staying home now I should be able to. So, here is post number 1 :)

Pretty anti-climatic I know, but it's a start!
